This is such a disturbing video and there are several books out by reputable people about the dangers of fluoride in our water. Discoloring teeth, though dismaying and possibly unsightly, may be only the tip of the iceberg. And it is on the rise.
I am very sorry to say that despite our efforts, both my daughters have fluorosis. When I asked the dentist about it he said it was from Amoxicillin, however, the link remains weak. Fluorosis seems to be more related to supplementing with fluoride in water, dental treatments, and toothpaste.
Our oldest daughter was on Amoxicillin frequently during her early years, but in retrospect, the younger one was not. The dentists did do fluoride treatments on both of them long before I was aware the the dangers. I am convinced that fluoride in water and dental treatments are the culprit behind their fluorosis.
Fluoride, Who Needs it?
We have used fluoride free toothpaste for years and have had great check ups. I attributed cavity free checkups to healthy diet and supplementation. I noticed that many of my friend's children had many cavities. They went to the dentist regularly, used fluoridated water, and tooth paste, but did not use supplements. The only thing we did differently was to supplement with high quality vitamin/minerals and fish oil.
Both my husband and I grew up with fluoridated water and using fluoridated toothpaste. I know for a fact that I had a healthy diet and his was pretty good too. However, neither of us supplemented with vitamins as children and as a result, we and all our siblings had our fair share of cavities. My daughters have had no cavities. They are now 14 & 21. I would even go as far to say that I took a lot more care for my teeth than my daughters did while brushing as a child too,but still had some cavities. So what accounts for the difference?

I still believe that diet & supplementing was & still is the greatest factor in cavity-free teeth. I know my daughters have had a healthy diet as did we their parents, so it boils down to supplementing with a good high quality vitamin and mineral supplement &/or fish oil. I wouldn't narrow it down to one or the other; vitamin or the fish oil. It could be a combination of both.
I have found that taking supplements seems to increase the effects of medication, and I wonder if taking supplements also increased the effect of the fluoride. I see no reason why it could not. Fluoride is listed as a drug on the back of toothpaste tubes, complete with warning for overdose. This could certainly pose a problem for the upcoming generations as more and more people realize they need supplementation to be healthy. Could this be why fluorosis is on the rise?
Fluorosis can ruin a beautiful smile, and you have to wonder what it is doing to other parts of your body that you cannot see. Surely nothing good.
If you and your children take supplements and drink fluoridated water you may want to find another source of water, such as bottled water without fluoride or a filtration system that removes fluoride. Cosmetics aside, fluoride is not needed in our water supply, nor toothpaste, and can have some really negative health consequenses. It's a shame and ethically a crime that two entire generations have passed and the public is just now becoming aware of the dangers of fluoridating the water system.
Please get educated about this health threat and sign the petition against adding fluoride to our water. Go to Fluoride Alert for more information and resources. Get your neighbors involved and perhaps you can get fluoride removed from your water systems.
