You know the ad:

"You know what they say about high fructose corn syrup, don't you?"

Well try this on for size: "Yes, some of it contains mercury!"

If you read my article "Half-Baked Corn Industry" then you  know that I am no fan of High Fructose Corn Syrup ( HFCS). Today I learned we have yet another reason to  shun the use of HFCS in our food and to be wary of "fake foods".

It turns out that some HFCS contains mercury! Here is a link to the article detailing the information.

Moms, please, listen up: Some of the companies you trust the most have food products that contained high and moderate levels of  mercury. I don't know about you, but I really don't want any mercury in my food and I especially don't want it in the bodies of children, mine or yours!

According to the article from the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy  (c) 2009 by David Walinga, MD, Janelle Soreneson, Pooja Mottl, and Brian Yablon, MD  the list of "trusted companies" includes products from Quaker, Hunt's, Hershey's, Smucker's, Kraft, Nutri-Grain,  & Yoplait.

You can help put an end to this bastardization of food & the environment

1. forward this to friends and relatives so that they can eliminate these   products  from their diet.

But don't stop there:

2. Use the 1-800 number on the package to call the companies and complain. Question them about how their HFCS is made. Threaten to boycott all of their products unless they stop using HFCS made from old technology plants. Better yet, don't threaten..just do it.

3. Do not buy products containing any HFCS. Read my previous article and check the links to understand more about what's wrong with HFCS
